Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Blackface Controversy

Dallas Cowboy fans and Dallasites have been engaged in a controversial debate after facebook photos were discovered of a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader dressed up as the rapper Lil’ Wayne for Halloween.

Not only did Whitney Isleib dress up as the rapper, but she also painted herself to look black.

Picture of Isleib’s costume when you read the rest.

The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders organization has not released an official statement, but has said that they are dealing with the situation internally.

Some are saying that as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, Isleib has to be more careful and she must hold herself to a higher standard. Others are saying that it's just a Halloween Costume.

I thought I'd bring the debate to Alex's Anecdotes. What do you think readers? Is this offensive?
Let this also be a lesson about facebook... be careful about what you post to the internet!

My Words Are Up.

  1. i personally wouldn't consider this offensive but it is somewhat careless. It could be seen as offensive to others and since she is well-known it makes this situation more complicated.

  2. i think people put on black face because secretly they actually want to be black. Halloween gives them permission and an excuse. therefore, it's not insulting, but rather flattering!

  3. There's nothing flattering about that. People want to be black but they don't want the struggle. If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say "black is beautiful" i'd be rich. However, they don't always mean that black people are beautiful as a race, but they mean the color of their skin is beautiful.
